What types of massage and bodywork do we offer? How are they different?

There are a number of different massage and bodywork techniques. They can vary widely. This can be confusing to anyone new to this form of health care. Our therapists have experience in many techniques and use a combination of them to address your own specific needs.

We often use different methods of deep muscle therapy to address acute or chronic pains or injuries. These forms of massage can produce dramatic and rapid results in a short amount of time. Some of our most frequently used massage therapy techniques are:

SWEDISH MASSAGE: A system of stroking, kneading, friction and percussion which promotes stress relief and relaxation, reduces muscle tension and improves both your circulation and range of motion. This is one of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE: This can be similar to Swedish Massage with more pressure and a combination of other techniques added to meet the specific needs of each client. Our massages are always client focused and outcome based to accomplish goals specific to a client's needs.

TRIGGER POINT THERAPY: The precise application of pressure to muscles or other tissues

in order to help break the pain/spasm cycle or chronic tension patterns.

SPORTS MASSAGE: A combination of techniques assisting in preparation for or recovery from specific sports pursuits.

REFLEXOLOGY: Work applied to specific points, typically of the hands and feet, which are seen to beneficially affect, by "reflex" connection, all the areas of the body.

HOT STONE MASSAGE: A form of massage therapy and bodywork involving the placement of a number of heated stones to the body for the purpose of pain relief, relaxation and therapy.
